Your water may not smell, taste or look different but it may be a health risk. Good quality drinking water must be free from micro-organisms or any substances which, if found insufficient concentration would endanger health. Young children or older people can be more susceptible to illness from bacteria present in drinking water.
Drinking water from private wells is at risk of contamination. As private wells are not regulated it is the responsibility of the well owner to have their water tested regularly. It is recommended that you test your private domestic well once a year.
As part of the analysis, we test for E. coli, total coliforms and enterococci. If the water quality test shows positive for any of these it is an indicator of recent contamination and the water is not fit for consumption.
Issues such as low pH, high iron and hardness in water can result in costly repairs. High hardness can cause damage to household appliances. High manganese and iron change the colour of water, and low pH levels can cause pipes to corrode.
IAS provide a comprehensive service, from supplying sample bottles, carrying out the analysis and providing a full explanation of your results. Our explanation will include advice on how to deal with any issues you may have with bacteria, lime or other factors.
A range of different analyses types can be carried out to suit the needs of the customer. Please contact us for more information.
